Redevelopment of existing real estate assets, often in premier locations, offer developers many opportunities to increase, and tap into, unrealized value of properties. However, repositioning structures-including those built more than 30 years ago-can present complex challenges.
SmithGroupJJR's workplace design Andrew Rollman shares a case study of successful redevelopment in an article titled,
"1200 Nineteenth: Creating Modern Curb Appeal." Follow the story of a tired, 1960s office building in the Capitol-city, and the resulting transformation that positioned this property as a trophy-class, Class A asset. As Rollman explains, owners that incorporate modern design, building technology, and environmental strategies can convert these outmoded buildings into sought-out real estate.
