Mark originally got to know SmithGroupJJR from the outside in. He collaborated on client projects and shared his expertise as a member of the firm’s Health Advisory Council, where he brought a wealth of insight and experience in accounting, business strategy and health system operations. “The chemistry and flow of creative ideas was amazing,” he says of working with SmithGroupJJR’s Health Practice leaders. “Eventually joining the firm seemed almost ordained.”
Better yet, when he's not on the road working with staff and clients across the country, Mark is based in Washington, DC: a perfect fit for the self-described newshound. “I enjoy following current events, whether it is related to politics, or to what is happening in the health sector nationwide,” he explains. He also enjoys woodworking, gardening, playing the guitar—and perhaps ribbing his more design-oriented coworkers. Asked to describe his work style, Mark slyly responds, “I think it it’s a mix of Ranch, Gothic Revival and Bungalow.” With a career path that has ranged from PricewaterhouseCoopers consultant to health system executive— and working on a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership—Mark is happy to add honorary architect to his repertoire.
