Neal Billetdeaux

Specialist

"The ecological basis of landscape design has always been a foundation of my work."

Take a glance at Neal's resume, and you can see he's had a major hand in making the environment a healthier place. With academic studies that focused on botany and ecology, Neal brings a solid science background to his career as a landscape architect. His portfolio of projects is heavy on habitat restoration and green infrastructure. He's improved ecosystem health on projects like Detroit's Belle Isle Canal, the creation of a recreation area following a dam removal, and the Dequindre Cut Greenway, which converted an abandoned urban rail corridor into a popular pedestrian/bike trail. "I am proud of its value as a recreational resource and the potential for economic enhancement it will promote,” he says of Dequindre Cut. Neal has a deep appreciation for the environment below the water's surface, too. A certified Divemaster, he teaches scuba diving, and enjoys diving on Great Lakes wrecks and Caribbean reefs.
